25th National Logistics Seminar Highlight Indian Railways’ Key Role in the Nation’s Transforming Logistics Landscape

The 25th National Logistics Seminar, held in New Delhi by Indian Railways and CTRAM, focused on “Challenges and Emerging Opportunities in Rail Logistics.” Chief Guest Hitendra Malhotra (Railway Board) highlighted that increasing rail freight share from 46% to 50% could cut logistics costs by 2% and reduce emissions by 90%.

Key initiatives include ₹5 lakh crore in annual investments, Dedicated Freight Corridors, 1 lakh new wagons, and 100 Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals. Sector sessions addressed boosting cement logistics (from 10% to 25%), growth in rail-based car transport, and enhancing parcel and cargo services.

Emphasis was placed on private partnerships, IoT tracking, and multimodal coordination to build a future-ready, efficient rail logistics ecosystem.
