India’s Warehousing Sector Embraces Sustainability Amid Rising MNC Demand for Green Logistics Spaces
India’s warehousing sector is rapidly transitioning towards sustainability, driven by growing demand from multinational companies focused on ESG and Net Zero targets.
As per JLL, green-certified warehouse space in India is set to quadruple to 270 million sq ft by 2030. Since 2019, institutional-grade warehousing has tripled, with 72% of the existing 90 million sq ft already green-certified or undergoing certification.
To attract global tenants, investors and developers are adopting green standards such as LEED, IGBC, and GRIHA.
With 260 million sq ft of new supply in the pipeline—80% of which is expected to be green-compliant—India’s warehousing industry is aligning with international sustainability goals and catering to occupiers’ growing preference for eco-friendly, energy-efficient logistics infrastructure.
