Tamil Nadu to Introduce Specialized Warehousing Policy

Tamil Nadu to Introduce Specialized Warehousing Policy Focusing on Delta Region and Industrial Clusters

Tamil Nadu is set to launch its first dedicated Warehousing Policy to strengthen logistics infrastructure, especially in the Delta region and industrial clusters. The policy, following the 2023 State Logistics Policy, focuses on four pillars: national warehousing standards, institutional mechanisms, regulatory streamlining, and commodity-based clustering.

During a stakeholder meet, TIDCO’s MD Sandeep Nanduri confirmed phased identification of priority districts. The state is also progressing on multimodal logistics parks in Mappedu, Coimbatore, and Thoothukudi under its ₹63,000 crore Integrated Logistics Plan.

Despite strong manufacturing and port networks, Tamil Nadu faces infrastructure gaps like cargo delays and cold chain shortages. Warehousing demand is surging, led by engineering firms, with Chennai and Bengaluru showing doubled leasing activity in early 2025.
