Navi Mumbai International Airport Inaugurated
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase 1 of the ₹19,650-crore Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a Greenfield project set to transform air connectivity and cargo operations in western India. Spread over 1,160 hectares, NMIA aims to ease congestion at Mumbai’s CSMIA and enhance exports, freight, and multimodal logistics.
Developed by Adani Group (74%) and CIDCO (26%), it will eventually feature four terminals, handling 90 million passengers and 3.25–3.5 million tonnes of cargo annually.
Strategically located near JNPT Port and industrial corridors, the airport includes automated cargo handling, cold chains, and India’s largest MRO facility, positioning it as a global aviation and cargo hub, boosting Maharashtra’s logistics capacity, and connecting India’s supply chains efficiently.
