Multi-Modal Transport Hub in Surat Secures ₹199.7 Crore IRFC Funding

The Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) has sanctioned a ₹199.7 crore term loan to Surat Integrated Transportation Development Corporation Limited (SITCO) for India’s first international-standard Multi-Modal Transport Hub (MMTH) in Surat.

The hub will integrate railways, metro, BRTS, city buses, regional buses, autos, and taxis, alongside upgraded station infrastructure and passenger amenities. A loan agreement was signed in New Delhi, marking a major step in boosting urban mobility and logistics infrastructure.

As the Ministry of Railways’ financing arm, IRFC is diversifying into railway-linked infrastructure, including multimodal logistics and metro rail, while maintaining a zero-NPA record. The project is expected to enhance regional connectivity, accelerate economic growth, and provide world-class commuter facilities in Surat.
