Karnataka Truckers Strike Grounds 6 Lakh+ Vehicles, Disrupts Supply Chains Across South India
A massive truckers’ strike in Karnataka has halted over six lakh vehicles, severely disrupting supply chains across South India. Led by transport associations, the indefinite protest has impacted the movement of vegetables, LPG cylinders, industrial goods, and more—though essentials like milk are exempt.
Bengaluru markets like K.R. Market are on alert, with traders warning of a crisis if the strike continues beyond Wednesday. Around 4,000 daily truckloads to Tamil Nadu have ceased, affecting cities like Chennai. Goods from Maharashtra and Gujarat are also delayed.
Truckers demand relief from rising diesel costs, tolls, and fitness certificate fees. With growing support from other states and interstate commerce slowing, pressure mounts on governments to act swiftly and prevent a broader crisis.
