Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured full government support to exporters hit by steep US tariffs. Meeting a delegation led by FIEO president S. C. Ralhan, she pledged “comprehensive support” to safeguard trade interests and jobs, vowing to explore every avenue to counter the tariff escalation.

Sitharaman stressed the government stands “shoulder-to-shoulder” with exporters and urged industry leaders to protect workers’ livelihoods. Exporters raised concerns over competitiveness, market access, and employment risks. Ralhan welcomed the reassurance, saying it boosted exporters’ confidence.

The FIEO will collaborate with the government to diversify markets and strengthen India’s trade position amid the 50% US tariff hike on Indian goods.
