India Resumes Export Duty Refund Scheme

India Resumes Export Duty Refund Scheme from June 1 to Boost Key Sectors

The Indian government has reinstated the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RODTEP) scheme, effective June 1, 2025, to boost export competitiveness. Originally launched in January 2021 and suspended in February 2025, the scheme reimburses exporters for embedded taxes not covered under other refund programs.

Key sectors like textiles, chemicals, pharma, agriculture, and automobiles will benefit. The revived scheme will use a digital platform to ensure faster, transparent claim disbursements.

Over ₹5,974 crore had been disbursed under RODTEP as of March 2025. The move follows India’s trade pact with the UK and ongoing talks with the US, aiming to strengthen India’s global trade standing amid evolving economic conditions and export challenges.
