IKEA Supply, in partnership with BLR Logistics, has launched India’s first electric heavy-duty truck on public roads, marking a key step in sustainable transportation. Operating since October 2024, the EV has completed over 100 trips between Mumbai Port, Pune DC, and IKEA’s Mumbai store. The initiative has reduced turnaround time by 50%, saved 16% in annual costs, and cut CO2 emissions by 30%—about 206 tonnes annually. Route restructuring and charging infrastructure support have enabled seamless operations.

This move aligns with IKEA’s goal to reduce transport emissions by 70% by 2030 and shift entirely to zero-emission trucks by 2040. The project sets a strong example of how green freight can be achieved through innovation and collaboration.
