The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released its 2026 Cargo and Ground Operations Manuals, featuring nearly 100 major updates to align with new global standards and regulations.

Key revisions include enhanced lithium battery safety under the Dangerous Goods and Battery Shipping Regulations, addressing a 25% surge in air-shipped batteries.

The Live Animals Regulations introduce stricter welfare, handling, and container standards, while the Ground Operations Manual improves passenger, baggage, and aircraft handling efficiency.

IATA also launched LAR Verify, a digital compliance platform, alongside tools for dangerous goods and sodium-ion battery classification. These updates reflect IATA’s focus on safety, digital transformation, and sustainability across the aviation industry.
