GST 2.0 Reforms Praised by AITWA; Truck Demand, Cost Efficiency Set to Rise

The CBIC, in a high-level meeting on Friday, discussed transitional challenges under the upcoming GST 2.0 regime with industry stakeholders, including the All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA).

AITWA Chairman Pradeep Singal welcomed GST 2.0’s rate rationalization, noting reduced GST on trucks and tyres would revive purchases, especially among small truck owners, while cutting logistics costs.

General Secretary Abhishek Gupta raised concerns over transitioning from Forward Charge Mechanism (FCM) to Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM), requesting a one-time transition window before September 22.

He also flagged procedural issues needing attention. Officials assured that challenges would be addressed. With festive demand rising, GST 2.0 is expected to boost truck demand, lower costs, and strengthen India’s transport and logistics sector.
