Government Strategies to Ease Regulatory Hurdles in the Logistics Sector

As of April 24, 2025, the Indian government, led by DPIIT, is actively working to reduce regulatory hurdles in logistics to boost efficiency and investment. A major initiative includes expanding private sector access to PM GatiShakti geospatial data, enhancing logistics planning and infrastructure development.

DPIIT also emphasizes the need for industry collaboration to meet national logistics goals. On the ground, training for state officials and faster warehouse licensing by WDRA are driving streamlined operations. However, challenges like regulatory fragmentation, NLP implementation gaps, and limited tech adoption remain.

Efforts to promote platforms like ULIP and E-Logs continue as India aims to build a digitally integrated, investment-friendly logistics ecosystem with global competitiveness.
