Flight Cancellations Hit Domestic Cargo

IndiGo Flight Cancellations Hit Domestic Cargo Operations

IndiGo has faced widespread domestic flight cancellations since November 2025 due to the enforcement of DGCA’s stricter Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) phase-II norms, leading to acute crew shortages. Over 1,200 flights were cancelled in November, sharply impacting on-time performance and briefly halting domestic operations at major hubs like Delhi.

While international cargo services remain largely unaffected, domestic cargo—especially time-sensitive shipments such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines, perishables, and courier consignments—has faced delays, higher costs, and cold-chain challenges.

Cargo operators and shippers have mitigated disruptions by shifting volumes to other airlines and road transport, though pricing pressures persist. The episode highlights the need for diversified logistics planning and contingency strategies in India’s air cargo ecosystem.
