Assam Approves New Logistics Policy to Boost Northeast Trade Hub
The Assam government has approved the Assam Logistics and Warehousing Policy, 2025, aiming to position the state as a leading logistics hub in the Northeast.
Cleared by the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the policy focuses on strengthening logistics infrastructure, improving supply chain efficiency, and attracting private investment.
Key initiatives include developing integrated logistics parks and modern warehousing zones, expanding multimodal connectivity across road, rail, air, and waterways, simplifying approvals through single-window clearances, and offering incentives for cold chains and storage facilities.
The policy supports Assam’s role as a gateway to neighbouring countries and is expected to boost trade, investment, and employment. The Cabinet also approved projects including a greenfield airport in Silchar and new skill development initiatives.
