Pre-Kharif Agri Demand Drives Partial Logistics Recovery
India’s logistics sector is seeing a mild recovery, primarily driven by pre-Kharif agricultural demand, as per the Shriram Mobility Bulletin. Truck rentals rose modestly on key corridors like Delhi-Mumbai (up 1.3% MoM), but recovery is uneven across regions.
Goods carrier sales fell by 11% in June, while agricultural and commercial tractor sales grew by 3%, signaling rural resilience.
Diesel and petrol consumption declined by 6% and 7% respectively, reflecting overall mobility weakness. Toll collections via FASTag also dropped 4.1% to ₹6,793 crore.
Experts say that while farm-linked logistics offers temporary support, a sustained recovery depends on a boost in industrial output, rural demand, and infrastructure activity, with the monsoon’s progress playing a crucial role.
