120-km Mumbai–Vadhvan Coastal Expressway

Maha Govt OKs 120-km Mumbai–Vadhvan Coastal Expressway

The Maharashtra government has cleared a 120-km coastal expressway linking South Mumbai to Vadhvan Port, giving a major push to regional connectivity and the upcoming deep-sea port.

Its highlight is the 24.35-km Uttan–Virar Sea Link, set to become India’s longest sea bridge, with six lanes, emergency lanes, navigational spans and a modern Intelligent Transport System.

The corridor is designed to cut travel time, lower emissions and unlock new opportunities in housing, tourism and port-driven growth across Uttan–Bhayandar, Vasai and Virar.

Integrated with major expressways and coastal routes, the Mumbai–Vadhvan Expressway Corridor (MVEC) will ease load on existing roads and create a smooth high-speed network for both passenger and freight traffic.
