Solid Waste to Be Used in Road Construction by 2027: Nitin Gadkari
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that all solid waste in India will be used for road construction by the end of 2027, emphasizing the vision of converting “waste into wealth.”
Speaking at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said 80 lakh tons of waste have already been used in road projects, including Delhi’s landfill sites. Gadkari also highlighted India’s growing automobile industry, now valued at ₹22 lakh crore, ranking third globally, and projected to become number one within five years through innovations in biofuels, EVs, and alternative fuels.
He further noted that ethanol production from corn has generated ₹45,000 crore in additional income for farmers, advancing India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and green energy goals.
