Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant stated that Bhiwandi has the potential to become Asia’s largest logistics hub.

A dedicated committee, including Bhiwandi East MLA Rais Shaikh and officials from the industries and urban development departments, will be formed to explore the proposal.

Bhiwandi, known for its strategic location and vast 144 sq km area, already hosts major e-commerce warehouses.

Shaikh also called for the appointment of an IAS officer and strict action against illegal land encroachments worth ₹3,000 crore. He emphasized Bhiwandi’s critical role in helping Maharashtra achieve its $1 trillion economy target.
