India has identified over 1 lakh warehouses to be brought under the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) in an effort to curb post-harvest losses, according to WDRA Chairperson Anita Praveen at the 16th FICCI Foodworld India 2025.

She emphasized the vital link between food processing and warehousing to handle rising agricultural output. FSSAI CEO G Kamala Vardhana Rao highlighted the shift towards home-delivered and packaged food, stressing the industry’s responsibility for nutritional content.

The Ministry of Food Processing has supported 1,600 projects, adding 4.1 million tonnes of processing capacity and benefiting 9 lakh farmers. The PLI scheme attracted ₹7,000 crore in investment and created 2.5 lakh jobs, showing the sector’s growing economic and social significance.
